HangVidU is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our application.
We use Google Sign-In for authentication. When you sign in, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture from Google. This information is used solely to identify you within the application and allow other users to find you. Google Firebase handles all authentication data securely according to Google's privacy standards.
We request read-only access to your Google Contacts and "Other contacts" only if you choose Add Contacts and select Google import. We use contact names and email addresses only to show your contacts in HangVidU and to show which contacts are already using the app. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or use it for any unrelated purpose.
We request Gmail send permission only if you explicitly choose Send Email Invite in HangVidU. We use this access only to send the invite emails you select from your Gmail account. We do not read your inbox, read your email history, or use Gmail data for advertising, profiling, or any unrelated purpose.
Contact names and email addresses obtained from Google are used only to support contact import, user matching, and invite sending features. We do not share Google contact or Gmail data with data brokers, advertisers, or other third parties. If contact data is matched to an existing HangVidU account, that matching is used only to show you which of your contacts are already on HangVidU. Google contact data is not stored on our servers; it is used in memory only for the duration of the import session.
Our application facilitates video and audio calls using WebRTC technology. During a call, video and audio streams are transmitted directly between peers (P2P). We do not use TURN servers by default, so media is not relayed through our servers. We do not record, store, or have access to the content of your video or audio calls.
To establish connections between peers, we use a signaling server (Firebase Realtime Database). Connection metadata (such as IP addresses and ICE candidates) is temporarily processed to route your call but is not permanently stored or used for tracking.
Text messages and files sent via the text messaging interface are currently stored in Google Firebase Realtime Database (RTDB) for the purpose of allowing users to view chat history after a P2P connection is closed. An option to disable chat history is planned, which will allow users to prevent their messages from being stored or to have them stored only locally. We retain a rolling history of up to the most recent 100 messages per conversation; older messages are automatically deleted as new ones arrive. Chat messages are not backed up elsewhere or used for advertising or profiling, and are deleted if the underlying conversation data is removed. We do not permanently archive your chat history.
HangVidU's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can revoke HangVidU's access to your Google data at any time by visiting your Google Account permissions page and removing HangVidU from the list of connected apps. Revoking access will prevent the app from fetching your contacts or sending emails on your behalf in future sessions.
